Letter from the editor

     We've got word couture!

Since its conception in 2003, Word Mountain has blossomed into a successful editorial services and writing boutique. My approach often helps clients develop their products and services in addition to the original intent of producing quality written communication.

My unique business has branched into author coaching and book development. Working with corporate America for over twenty-five years has given me a solid understanding of what businesses need in regard to written communications--and I understand the creative, entrepreneurial/solopreneurial soul because I have one. These qualities make me a great match for helping thought leaders and high-achieving professionals with their books.

I've always been fascinated by the written word, and how we use combinations of words to develop and represent the tangible and the intangible--thoughts, ideas, events, objects, and processes. The quantity and quality of what we can communicate with arrangements of these odd-looking things called letters--and only twenty-six to choose from--amazes me.

Prior to starting Word Mountain, I wrote technical documentation and managed various projects for Lucent Technologies (working globally as well as locally), led a staff of top-notch writers for a software company, and created marketing copy for premier small businesses. I've written or edited thousands of pages in a cross-range of industries, including software, telecom, healthcare, general business, non-fiction and fiction.

I've also interviewed literary agents and other publishing  industry professionals for a terrific online writers' resource, Absolute Write, for nearly two years. Interviewing agents, publishing house editors and other industry experts is exciting, AND a great way to connect and learn. My latest (f.r.ee) interview is with Evan Marshall, a well-established literary agent and author of fourteen books. The topic is about what to look for--and what to run screaming from--when you are seeking agent representation. You can listen in for free in the sidebar at the left.

Please email me at Labbate@wordmountain.com to discuss your book or any of my programs. Confidentiality is assured, and I'm happy to sign a NDA before discussing your project and reviewing any content.

Best (and thanks for reading),
