Dear Aspiring Author,
My business (which started in 2003 offering writing and editorial services in the corporate world) has organically branched into author coaching and book development/publishing, and I couldn't be more excited. Sometimes I'm so excited I can't fall asleep at night!
Working in the technology sector of corporate America for over twenty years gave me a solid understanding of what businesses (large and small) need in regard to written communications--and I understand the creative, entrepreneurial soul because I have one. My approach often helps clients hone their products and services in addition to the original intent of producing great content.
Prior to starting Word Mountain, I wrote technical books and managed large and small technical projects for Lucent Technologies (working globally as well as locally), led a staff of top-notch writers for a software company, and created marketing copy for premier small businesses. I've written or edited thousands of pages in a range of industries, including software, telecom, healthcare, general business, nonfiction and fiction.
I've also been deeply fortunate to travel and study many life-enriching topics, such as writing at a 16th century convent in Italy, animal tracking and basic wilderness survival in the woods of Pennsylvania, drawing in Costa Rica, and remote-viewing from the Andean mountains and lake region of Peru (best trip ever ever). Why am I telling you this? Because I believe that my life experience, combined with an innate talent for writing and solid publishing knowledge make me a great match for helping thought leaders and high-achieving professionals make great books.
I am fascinated by the written word, and how we use combinations of words to develop and represent the tangible and the intangible--thoughts, ideas, events, objects, and processes. The quantity and quality of what we can communicate with arrangements of these odd-looking things called letters--and only twenty-six to choose from--completely amazes me.
There's an interview with a great literary agent in the sidebar on the left, for your listening pleasure. I've also interviewed literary agents and other publishing industry professionals for a terrific online writers' resource, Absolute Write, for several years. Interviewing agents, publishing house editors and other industry experts is a great way to connect and learn--plus it's fun. I'll be adding some of those interviews to this site soon, so stay tuned.
If you feel good about what you are reading here and want to discuss your book thoughts, please email me at LabbateATwordmountain.com. One of my programs (group or private) may be a good fit for you. Don't wait--neither of us are getting any younger! Confidentiality is assured.
I wish you great success in your writing, publishing, personal growth and entrepreneurial endeavors!
Best,
Lisa
